The three Schoenstatt Shrines in Cape Town as well as the Shrines in Johannesburg and Scotland have chosen as places of pilgrimage during this Extraordinary jubilee year of Mercy. Crossing the threshold of the Shrine doors enables pilgrims to experience the Mercy of God. As with all Jubilees, a plenary indulgence is granted during the Holy Year of Mercy for those who meet the requirements.

# Be in a state of grace at the time

# Have a deep desire for true conversion

# Pass through the designated Door of Mercy or

# Perform a spiritual or corporal work of mercy if you cannot make a pilgrimage to a designated ‘Door of Mercy,

# Recently have received Holy Communion preferably on the day of the pilgrimage

# Recently have received the Sacrament of Reconciliation, i.e. Confession within 20 days before or after passing through the Door of Mercy

# Recite the Creed, Our Father, a prayer to Mary, e.g. the Hail Mary, and the Glory be to the Father for the Holy Father’s intention
